What is a Pioneer?
“A pioneer is a person who is amongst those who first enter or settle a region, opening it up for occupation and development by others. They are amongst one of the earliest in any field of enterprise or progress and they stretch the boundaries and extend the horizon.
A pioneer sings the song that is music to the Initiator, music that can sound like clashing brass to the establishment. A pioneer takes territory previously considered uninhabitable and realizes its potential—A pioneer reaches for the unreachable and includes the excluded.”
God’s profound longing is for humanity to join with Him in the task of establishing a Christ-centered community right here on Earth. Within this Christ-centered community, we are each called to extend our hands to mend the shattered, uplift the marginalized, and empower the dispossessed. Nestled in the heart of downtown Memphis, Pioneer Church stands as a shining example of this divine vision. Over the past six years, Pastors Jeremy and Tasha, together with their dedicated team of leaders, have carefully nurtured this blossoming community.
Today, more than ever, the vibrant soul of downtown Memphis yearns for a Christ-centered sanctuary, capable of tending to the spiritual and tangible needs of its inhabitants. Our aspirations extend beyond corporate worship; we at Pioneer Church envision a community hub, designed to cater to the distinct needs of our beloved downtown neighbors.
We’ve christened our mission Meaningful to Memphis because we firmly believe that pioneers purposefully add meaning into regions and lives that often are deemed inconsequential and overlooked. The community center we envision will cast a lasting influence on Memphis and will be a gift for both the present generation and those yet to come. This haven will boast a sanctuary for fervent worship, a gymnasium featuring a full basketball court for diverse athletic pursuits, a fully equipped commercial kitchen where our houseless brethren can share meals, and creative studios where young people can hone and showcase their God-given talents.
Sight is what we perceive with open eyes, but pioneers see vision with eyes firmly closed. Close your eyes and immerse yourself in a Pioneering Vision for our beloved city. Join us in being a Pioneer, and bringing a new life and purpose to downtown Memphis.
