Have you ever felt stuck in the waiting room of life, wondering when God will move? Waiting can be one of the toughest spiritual disciplines, yet it’s where God often does His most profound work in us. At Pioneer Church, we’re unpacking the beauty and challenge of waiting through intentional prayer, worship, and community gatherings. Let’s dive into why waiting matters, how it shapes us, and how you can engage in meaningful ways to grow in this season. Ready? Let’s explore together.

Why Waiting Matters in Our Faith Journey

Waiting may feel like a passive state, but in God’s design, it’s an active and transformative process. As Pastor Jeremy shared in a recent message, “God would rather have you wait with Him than to do it without Him.” Too often, we rush ahead, only to realize we’ve stepped out of God’s will, chasing temporary fixes instead of eternal promises.

In the waiting, God matures us, shaping our character and refining our faith. It’s where He addresses anger, lust, greed, and other heart issues that might hinder us from stepping into the next season fully prepared. Remember, God’s delays are not denials—they’re divine opportunities for growth.

How Waiting Develops Us: 5 Key Lessons

Waiting is never wasted when it’s in God’s presence. Here are five powerful ways waiting transforms us:

  • Develops Character: Just like Abraham and Sarah learned (the hard way), waiting reveals and refines our true character. God uses this time to prepare us for what’s ahead.

  • Teaches Comprehension: In the waiting, we begin to understand God’s heart and purposes. It helps us discern between eternal promises and fleeting temptations, much like Esau’s story in Genesis 25.

  • Brings Clarity: Without waiting, we risk creating idols out of our impatience. As Pastor Jeremy warned, “An idol never announces itself.” Waiting helps us hear God’s voice clearly, free from distractions.

  • Builds Confidence: Faith grows in the waiting. When Saul rushed ahead and acted out of fear, he lost God’s favor. Confidence in God’s timing allows us to trust Him fully, even in low numbers or challenging circumstances.

  • Prepares Us for the Next Season: Waiting charges us up like a phone on a charger. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength... they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Waiting equips us to soar like eagles, ready for what God has in store.

What’s Next? Opportunities to Engage

As we journey through this season of waiting, we invite you to engage with us:

  • Campfire Night: Join us on the first Wednesday of every month to pray, worship, and seek God’s presence together. Let’s reignite the spiritual fire within us!

  • 12-Hour Prayer Night: Mark your calendars for Friday, September 12, from 6 PM to 6 AM. This is a special time of intercession and worship as we lift our hearts to God.

  • Celebrate Our 8-Year Anniversary: On September 21, service will begin at 10:30 AM. Come celebrate God’s faithfulness with us as we reflect on His incredible work in our church.

  • Connect with Us: Haven’t filled out a Connect Card yet? It’s not too late! Let us take you out for coffee and get to know your story.

A Final Word: Trust the Process

Waiting isn’t easy, but it’s where God does some of His best work. As Pastor Jeremy said, “Feelings are fickle, but God’s faithfulness is steadfast.” Whether you’re waiting for a breakthrough, a relationship, or guidance, know that God is using this time to shape you, mold you, and prepare you for greater things.

What are you waiting for today? How can you lean into God’s presence during this season? Join us at Pioneer Church for Campfire Night, prayer gatherings, and Sunday services as we hold onto the promises of a faithful God. Together, let’s wait well.
