Understanding the End: Why We Start with the Victory

Have you ever watched a movie and felt so anxious about the ending that you skipped straight to the final scene just to make sure the hero survives? In the journey of faith, many of us live with a sense of "spiritual anxiety," wondering how the battle against darkness will eventually turn out. But what if we started at the end? What if we lived our lives with the full knowledge that the victory has already been secured?

In a powerful recent message, we explored the concept of "Opposition to the Ops." While the term "ops" is often used in modern culture to describe opposition or enemies, for the believer, there is one primary "op" who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. However, we don't have to live in fear. By looking at the final chapters of the story first, we can find the strength to stand firm in our daily lives.

The Final Revelation: The Fate of the Enemy

To understand our current position, we must look at Revelation 20. The Apostle John provides a vivid description of the end of the age, and it is a vision that should inspire every believer. It depicts an angel descending from heaven with a great chain to seize the dragon—that ancient serpent known as the devil or Satan.

It is fascinating to note the progression of the enemy in scripture. In Genesis, he is introduced as a subtle snake. By the time we reach Revelation, he has grown into a dragon. This speaks to the scale of his influence over time, yet his end remains the same. He is bound, locked, and sealed in the abyss. This is the ultimate "spoiler alert" for human history: the enemy loses.

For those who have remained faithful to the testimony of Jesus, the promise is one of reigning and life. This is the first resurrection, a state where the "second death" has no power. When you realize that the fire of judgment was never intended for you—but was created specifically for the devil and his angels—it changes your perspective on your value to God.

The Security of the Book of Life

One of the most comforting truths found in the Word is the existence of the Lamb’s Book of Life. When you choose to follow Jesus, your name is written in this book. It is important to remember that:

  • God is the only author: No human being can write you in, and no human being can take you out.

  • It is permanent: Your security doesn't rest on your own strength, but on the finished work of Christ.

  • It is life-giving: This truth is better than caffeine; it brings life to your soul and peace to your mind.

Opposition to the Ops: Identifying the Real Enemy

We often spend our lives fighting the wrong people. We get angry at our bosses, our neighbors, or our family members. But the Bible is clear: we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. We have one true enemy who despises us because we carry the image of God and the name of Jesus.

This enemy is evil, powerful, and experienced. He has been practicing his craft of deception for millennia. He knows how to wait, how to whisper, and how to attack. If we try to fight him in our own strength, we will find ourselves overwhelmed. How do we stand against an enemy we can't see or touch? We do it through the blood of the Lamb and the authority of the Word.

Actionable Strategy: "The Lord Rebuke You"

How do we practically take action against spiritual opposition? Pastor Jeremy highlights a vital scriptural principle found in Jude 1:9 and Zechariah 3:2. Even the Archangel Michael, when disputing with the devil, did not rely on his own authority. Instead, he said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

This is a critical lesson for every believer. You do not have the inherent strength to rebuke the enemy on your own. Your power comes from the name of Jesus. When you feel the weight of spiritual warfare—whether it's an attack on your sanity, your health, or your peace—you must stand on your "ten toes" and declare the authority of Christ.

Why Your Words Matter

Everything that happens in the physical realm is often a byproduct of what is happening in the spiritual realm. This is why we must be careful with our speech. Instead of speaking curses or defeat over our lives, we must speak the blessings of God. If you are going through a season where things don't make sense, stop and realize that you might be in the middle of spiritual warfare.

You have the authority to bind and loose. As Jesus told Peter, what is bound on earth is bound in heaven. If you see demonic activity or chaos in your life, use your voice to rebuke it in the name of Jesus. However, there is a catch: You cannot rebuke hell if heaven isn't in you.

The Necessity of the Holy Spirit

To effectively oppose the "ops," you must be filled with the Holy Spirit. Without the Spirit, you are essentially trying to fight a fire with a water gun. The Holy Spirit is sent without limit to empower the believer to stand against the principalities and powers of darkness.

A "weaponless Christian" is a weak Christian. Your weapons are the Word of God and the presence of the Spirit. This is why studying the Bible and taking notes on the Word is so important. You cannot fight the schemes of the enemy if you don't know the promises of Christ. When you are filled with the Spirit, you carry the atmosphere of heaven with you into every battle.

Key Takeaways for Spiritual Victory

  • Live from the Win: You aren't fighting for a victory; you are living from the victory that Jesus already won on the cross.

  • Recognize the Source: Stop fighting people and start recognizing the spiritual roots of your struggles.

  • Use the Name: There is power in the name of Jesus.

  • Stay Filled: Prioritize your relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is your source of strength and discernment.

  • Know the Word: Keep the "sword of the Spirit" sharp by consistently reading and meditating on scripture.

Conclusion: You Are Not Alone in the Fight

The battle is real, but the outcome is certain. Whether you are facing physical challenges, mental health struggles, or spiritual oppression, remember that the enemy can't have anything unless you give it to him. You have been given authority, you have been given the Spirit, and your name is written in the Book of Life.

Don't let the enemy deceive you into thinking you are losing. You are a priest of God, a co-heir with Christ, and you are destined to reign. Stand firm, speak the Word, and watch the opposition flee in the name of Jesus.
